Help Advance Brain Health Research After A Stroke
About The Study
Imperial College London is conducting a clinical research study to evaluate vascular brain health in older adults who have previously experienced a stroke.
Because many vascular changes in the brain go unnoticed, this research uses specialized MRI imaging evaluations to analyze vascular markers.
The study also involves treatment with a drug which might improve blood flow to the brain.

Stroke Cohort
For adults with a prior history of stroke.
Target Age
Men and postmenopausal women aged 60–90 years.

Study Procedures
4 MRI scans and 28 days of the study drug.
What Participation Involves
- Secure online questionnaire to evaluate preliminary eligibility indicators.
- Review of your stroke and medical history with the research team.
- Providing informed consent to safely participate in all research steps.
- Attend Hammersmith Hospital on 7 separate occasions, 4 MRI scans in total and 28 days dosing with the study drug.
Who May Qualify?
- Adults aged 60–90 years.
- A documented prior history of stroke.
- Postmenopausal female or male participants.
- Able and willing to attend MRI-based study procedures and take the study drug.
- Physically and cognitively able to provide independent informed consent.
- No severe vision or hearing impairment that would prevent safe study participation, and no major medical contraindications to undergoing standard MRI scans.
Additional medical criteria apply. The study team will review full eligibility with you.
