About the study
If you've tried one antidepressant — or several — and still don't feel like yourself, you haven't failed. For some people, depression doesn't respond well enough to antidepressants — and that's exactly who this study is designed for.
The study pairs FDA-cleared TMS (transcranial magnetic stimulation) with a short digital mindfulness practice; the combination is what's being studied. No new medications are involved. Researchers at UC San Diego want to understand whether this approach may help people whose depression hasn't improved enough with antidepressants.
Participation involves 20 in-person TMS treatment sessions over 4 weeks, as part of up to 24 study visits that also include screening and an MRI scan. All study-related visits and procedures are provided at no cost to you. Participants may be compensated up to $300 for their time in the study, provided as an Amazon gift card. Before this study opened, its materials and plan were reviewed and approved by an independent ethics board — so protections were in place before you ever saw this page.
