CLINICONTACT RESEARCH STUDY

You can explore research for your child

About the study

When a doctor says your child's spine has a curve, it can be hard to know what to do next. Many families want to understand what research is being done in this area while their child is still growing. Research opportunities focused on childhood scoliosis exist for families across the country. Some of these studies look at exercise-based approaches — structured movement routines guided by trained instructors. The sessions with the instructor can take place in person at the study site or online over video (such as Zoom), so families can take part whichever way suits them — by preference, or based on where they live. This page is a low-pressure first step. A short questionnaire connects you with a research team that works with children and understands the realities of family life. There is no commitment to join, and participation in any research study is always your choice.

What to expect

  • Complete a short questionnaire so a research team member can privately review whether a research opportunity may be a fit — no personal information is collected from your child before you receive a full explanation and have a chance to ask questions
  • Speak with a member of the research team to learn what joining a research study could look like for your child and your family
  • Work with a certified instructor — virtually or in person — to learn a structured set of guided movement exercises designed for your child's age and ability
  • Support your child in practicing a guided daily movement routine at home, following the research team's step-by-step instructions
  • Take part in scheduled check-ins so the research team can follow your child's spinal health over time and answer any questions that come up
