If you have been on an antidepressant for a while and still feel like depression is making daily life hard, this research study may be worth a look.
Researchers in Austin, Texas are recruiting for clinical studies looking at whether an investigational drug, added on top of your current antidepressant, can provide more relief. You would not stop your current medication. You would keep taking it at the same dose the whole time, and the investigational drug would be added alongside it.
Studies are open to adults in Texas who have a diagnosis of major depressive disorder (moderate or severe) or persistent depressive disorder and whose current antidepressant has not given them enough relief. What to expect
- Complete a short online screener to see if you meet the basic requirements
- Speak with the study team to review your medical history and ask any questions you have before committing to anything
- Attend scheduled in-person study visits at a Texas research site
- Continue taking your current antidepressant at your existing dose for the full length of the study
- Take an investigational drug — or placebo — added on top of your current antidepressant, depending on which group you are assigned to
- Complete regular check-ins and assessments with the study team to track how you are doing
Who qualifies
- You are 18 years old or older
- You have been diagnosed with major depressive disorder (moderate or severe) or persistent depressive disorder
- You are currently taking an oral antidepressant and have been for at least 8 weeks
- Your depression symptoms are still significantly affecting your daily life even on your current medication
- You are willing to keep taking your current antidepressant at the same dose for the length of the study
- You live in Texas or can travel to a Texas research site for study visits
