Protocol in. A recruitment package, and the campaigns to run it.

Horizon is the study-startup engine inside CliniContact's recruitment platform. Paste a protocol and about an hour later you have IRB- and sponsor-ready materials, a study-specific marketing strategy, a hosted landing page and smart screener. Then we build and run the campaigns, connected to Vision, our participant data layer.

The platform

Four modules across the recruitment funnel.

Each module stands alone, and together they hand off without re-keying. Horizon runs startup and digital recruitment, Bridge opens community referral pathways, Smart Screener applies your criteria, and Vision holds the participant record.

Horizon · Study startup & digital recruitment

Protocol in. A recruitment package, and the campaigns to run it.

Give Horizon a protocol link, a PDF, or pasted text, and about an hour later you have the recruitment package and marketing strategy. Then we run it: you set the ad spend, and we build and manage the campaigns. We run the recruitment for you instead of handing back a folder.

  • Recruitment package + study-specific marketing strategy in ~1 hour
  • We build and manage the digital campaigns; you set the ad spend, no management fee
  • Site-level scoping and protocol amendments applied at intake
  • IRB-ready in 9 days, with 86% first-pass approval

Bridge · Referral pathways

Open referral pathways into underrepresented populations.

Paid media reaches participants already searching. Bridge reaches the ones who are not, through advocacy organizations, community clinics and provider networks matched to your indication and catchment area. It is how a Diversity Action Plan actually gets carried out.

  • Partner organizations matched by indication and site catchment area
  • Executes against FDA Diversity Action Plan commitments
  • Compliant outreach to advocacy groups, clinics and provider networks
  • Partner-level referral and engagement reporting

Smart Screener · Prescreening

Apply your I/E criteria before anyone reaches a coordinator.

Branching logic built from your inclusion and exclusion criteria, with SMS passcode verification and IP checks for decentralized studies. Every record arrives with its prescreen outcome and the reason it passed or failed. Those outcomes train the ad targeting toward qualified referrals rather than raw volume.

  • Branching logic built from your inclusion/exclusion criteria
  • SMS OTP verification and IP validation for decentralized studies
  • eConsent with e-signature where the protocol calls for it
  • Eligibility outcomes train the targeting toward qualified candidates in real time

Vision · Participant record

One participant record, or routed straight into your system.

Inbound SMS and email resolve to the right participant across every study, so outreach lives on one timeline instead of scattered inboxes. Where your team works in REDCap, Qualtrics or CRIO, referrals land straight in your system of record, with nothing re-keyed.

  • Handoff into your system of record: REDCap, Qualtrics, CRIO or your own
  • Reporting and analytics generated automatically for every study
  • Two-way SMS and email resolved to the participant record
  • Role-scoped access and full audit trail for coordinators, sponsors, monitors

How Horizon works

From protocol link to first prescreened referral, in one workspace.

Coordinators paste a link. Everything that used to take weeks of intake calls, ad reviews, and vendor pings happens in a single workspace, built around your IRB, your sponsor's playbook, and Vision.

01 · 60 seconds
Fast protocol intake
Paste a link, PDF, or text. Horizon parses the protocol, infers indication, eligibility, geography, and target population, then pre-fills the intake form.
02 · auto
Sponsor + IRB matching
Horizon matches the sponsor and IRB from a library of 90+ playbooks and 40+ IRBs, then locks the compliance ruleset. Upload your own any time to extend it.

Materials generated
Ads, flyers, screener scripts, SMS, and email are all generated at once, against FDA, IRB, sponsor, and platform rules. Every flag cites its source.
04 · post-approval
Landing page & smart screener, hosted
Once IRB-approved, Horizon builds and hosts the recruitment funnel: branded landing page, adaptive screener, and routing to your site.

Campaigns live, Vision ingesting
We build and run the media plan around the study population; Vision ingests every prescreened referral, encrypted and audit-trailed.
Compliance engine

Materials generated against every rule that matters.

US and UK standards apply at once: FDA and MHRA guidance, US IRB and UK HRA/REC review standards, sponsor playbooks, and platform ad policies. Every flag traces to its source, and materials come out ready to submit on the first pass.

  • 40+ FDA + IRB rules baseline, each cited to its source; sponsor profiles layer on forbidden terms, required disclosures, and tone.
  • Approval-likelihood score predicts the IRB outcome before submission, based on historical decisions.
  • Channel-specific outputs for Meta, landing page, SMS, email, and printable flyer, each respecting that platform's healthcare ad policy.
  • Every change is logged. Every flag cites its rule.

Once the study is live, Vision takes over the data.

Vision is CliniContact's HIPAA-aligned data layer. Every prescreened referral Horizon routes flows into Vision, encrypted and audit-trailed, open to your team and your sponsor's monitors. Access is set up the moment your study launches.

  • HIPAA-aligned infrastructure with a BAA in place.
  • Role-scoped access for coordinators, PIs, sponsors, monitors, and IRB.
  • Real-time enrollment dashboard, funnel analytics, and outreach status.
  • Routes into REDCap, Qualtrics, CRIO, or your own CTMS.

Protocol complexity

Built for protocols that stall in recruitment.

Restrictive eligibility, controlled substances, pediatric assent, multi-arm allocation. These are the protocols teams bring us after a first recruitment approach underdelivers.

Schedule I
Controlled-substance protocol: psilocybin with SAINT rTMS for treatment-resistant depression. Prescreen gates applied upfront so most submissions never reached study staff.
9 I/E criteria
Moderate-to-severe opioid use disorder. Ineligible respondents excluded, with reason, ahead of site handoff.
2-arm allocation
Five eligibility gates confirmed and each candidate routed to the correct study arm before coordinator contact.
8-section prescreen
Early life stress and depression. Sites received fully characterized candidate records rather than contact details.

Managed campaigns

A media plan built around your study population, then we run it.

Horizon proposes the channel mix, budget allocation, and creative variants from the protocol's eligibility profile, geography, and sponsor history. Then we build and manage the campaigns, tuning them weekly against cost-per-qualified-candidate. You set the ad spend, with no management fee on it.

  • Channel mix derived from indication, age, geography, and performance of similar studies.
  • Budget recommended per week, per channel, tied to the enrollment timeline.
  • Creative variants A/B tested within the IRB-approved copy boundaries, so nothing runs off-script.
  • Weekly optimization. Pause, scale, or shift channels without a vendor email thread.

FAQ

Common questions.

What do I actually get for $800?+
Your whole recruitment package for one study at one site: compliance-checked ads, flyer, landing page, smart screener, SMS and email, plus a study-specific marketing strategy, and we build and manage the campaigns. There's no management fee and no markup on ad spend; you fund the media directly. For new pilots we also put $300 toward your first campaign.
How is this different from a recruitment agency?+
Most partners engage only after your materials clear IRB. Horizon starts at the protocol, producing materials, submission pack, and strategy in about an hour, and hands your coordinators a prescreened, verified referral rather than a raw lead. No retainer, no per-asset fees.
Do you submit to the IRB on our behalf?+
No. Horizon prepares a submission-ready package (IRB-aligned materials, source citations, and an approval-likelihood score) that your regulatory lead submits through your usual IRB workflow. The compliance work happens before submission, not in place of it.
Where does Bridge fit in?+
Bridge opens community referral pathways through advocacy groups, clinics, and provider networks matched to your indication and catchment area, reaching the participants paid media doesn't. It's how a Diversity Action Plan gets carried out. Run it alongside Horizon or on its own.
Is Vision required?+
Vision is where prescreened referrals land and what drives weekly optimization; it's included. You can route to REDCap, Qualtrics, CRIO, or your own CTMS at any time, and Vision stays the system of record while a study is running.
What happens after the pilot?+
Continue at $800/mo for the same single-site setup as long as the study runs, or add studies, sites, or indications and move to a flat-fee model we scope with you. The price per study comes down as your volume grows.
